Winter Solstice

I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December
A magical thing
And sweet to remember.

'We are nearer to Spring
Than we were in September,'
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.
~Oliver Herford~

Happy winter solstice! The world keeps turning, the seasons keep changing. Spend a few minutes today enjoying the beauty of nature: a bird, the bright stars. Take a deep breath, and go forward feeling peaceful. Winter is a time of rest and renewal.

Thanks for the reminder. This time of year is so busy for many of us and I forget to take the time to enjoy nature.

I always feel better once we get past today - it's all down hill now to warmer weather and lighter nights - I soooo hate the nasty dark and cold evenings

It's good to see you back at Friday Block Party. You must be finally settling into your new place. Are you having a white Christmas??

I am a solstice celebrater, too! Come on Sol...welcome back!

What a lovely poem and photo. I envy you all in the snow, but as Anne said at least I can remember that it's all downhill now to winter for me. It's 10am and we're having thunder lightening and rain.
