Finale

A couple of last-minute UFO completions to report!

This scrappy bullseye quilt was started about a year ago.
It's now quilted, bound and ready to go.

And this quirky pieced quilt, a variation of Jen Kingwell's Bakers Dozen, has been simmering for several years.  It's also quilted, bound, and ready to be used.

In 2020 I made 37 quilts and 9 mats.  I'm surprised that I got this many done -- it hasn't felt like a productive year.  I have 6 tops waiting to be quilted and finished, and 8 block sets in varying stages of incompleteness.  None of these UFO projects are older than 2019, so the gap is closing!!!

Onward to 2021!

A Completion!

Rhiannon's new little quilt is done!  Even though it is not intended to be a Christmas gift, I hurried to finish it so it could be included in the holiday box we will be sending to Boston this week.

It's only 42" square, and very purple -- exactly what was requested.  I suspect she will outgrow it fairly soon, but that's OK, I can just make her a bigger one.  It's good to be a grandma!

Any other Buddy the Elf fans out there?

Christmas Quilts

I finished the Christmas quilts for Lorenzo and Lucci,
my first quilty completion in several months!

They are very similar but not exactly the same, the result of using some unmatched orphan blocks.  Close enough anyway to keep them both satisfied about 'sameness', which is a perennial little-brother concern.

We will be having our Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday instead of Thursday due to Dave's and Jess's work schedules, so the quilts and coordinating pillowcases will be presented then as the kick-off to the holiday season.

Dashed Hopes

Dashed Hopes

I finished this UFO today!. It was pieced last year, and has finally worked its way to the top of the pile

It's an enlarged version of this quilt:

 from this book:

It will be donated to Ampersand Families, a QBB initiative.

Parlor

A UFO completion!

Parlor

Queen size, just need to stitch the binding around to the back.  Odd colors, but I love the birds, a fabric from Kathy Doughty's "New Vintage" collection.

I finished a scrappy little quilt featuring squirrels and scarecrows and apple trees -- very Septembery.

Scrappy Bullseyes

I'm trying to finish up some UFOs.  Finally got this bullseye top from last year layered and quilted.  It's quite HEAVY because of the multiple layers of fabric in the blocks plus flannel backing.

I used to make lots of bullseye quilts, but forgot about them for some years. I like this one!

Stitch Club - July

I just finished this mat for July Stitch Club!

The theme this month is sashiko.  The pattern I used is a classic 'asa no ha' design, but my color choices are non-traditional.

I enjoyed this relaxing and soothing stitchery technique.  I have several more of these preprinted sampler squares, and will definitely return to this technique to make something larger.

Daredevils

Daredevils

Working my way through some UFOs: this quilt was from a Barbara Brackman sew-along last summer.  I just got it quilted, and binding sewn around, so it's in the home stretch!

Blockheads 3

The Moda Blockheads 3 sew-along continues, but I've taken mine as far as I want to.

I like the bright colors -- an unusual palette for me that gives me a retro/mod/60s vibe.

I haven't been feeling very creative recently.

RSC20: June - pink

It's been such a difficult week.  I've taken a few days to process all that's been happening around the nation.  I have no good answers or conclusions.  I decided it was time for me to take a deep breath and move ahead.

The RSC color for June is pink.  As I was rummaging through scraps looking for pink bits, I came across a bundle of little blocks that I didn't recognize.  They were from a Temecula Quilt Company sew-along that was running in April, and somehow I'd forgotten about them amidst the distraction of pandemic-ing.

I actually had sixteen little blocks pieced, but only thirteen of them found their way into this
 'Pink Lemonade' mini quilt.

Enjoy more pink projects at

Meanwhile: onward -- I'm taking it one day at a time, living in the moment, and being mindfully grateful for all that I have in my life.

Saturday

A few recently completed donation quilts.
Wrap-A-Smile missions are on hold until next year because of the pandemic, so I'm just finishing up some of the odds and ends I had here on hand.  Won't be starting any new donation quilts for a while.

Friday

I finished up the Jelly Rainbow strip quilt that I began earlier this month.

It's 'interesting' -- the background in particular looks shimmery to me.  Working with the color progressions was a learning exercise, and I think it was generally successful.  I tried mixing up the block sections, but it looked muddled, so this is where I ended up.

It will become a donation quilt for

It's been a very slow month for quiltmaking, just this one and the dinosaur quilts for the boys.  My mind has been elsewhere.  Hopefully, June will be different.

Dinosaurs galore!

I finished these two very-dinosaury quilts for Lorenzo and Lucci. They'll be packed and shipped off to the boys tomorrow morning.  Dinosaurs are their absolute favorite thing right now!

Lotto blocks

I've been puttering with a bundle of lotto blocks this past week, assembling them into donation quilts for one of my regular charity destinations,

I enjoy the challenge of making disparate blocks come together into cohesive arrangements.

Five done, and still a stack of lotto blocks waiting to be put to use.  All of these tops will be forwarded to another group member for finishing.
