Odds and Ends

I finished another Brimfield block this evening.  These go slowly for me.

Also, I was cleaning up the leftovers from this quilt, and used some of the scraps to make a little coordinating mat.  It's going to the hand-quilting queue.

Brimfield - EPP

My first Brimfield  block is done!  I'm planning to do twelve blocks in total, using a wide assortment of quirky vintage-style fabrics in each, all on the same gold print background.  The original 30s-era block that inspired this pattern was discovered at a flea market.

English Paper Piecing

Sooo, several years ago hexies were all the rage at the shop.  Everyone had portable project bags organized, and we were running a weekly sit-and-sew social activity.  As a senior staff member, I was expected to support/participate in/be fluently knowledgeable about everything that was going on ... so I had several hexie projects started also.  After a while, a new favorite fad came along, and my hexie stuff went into hiatus in the closet.  And then when I retired, it came home with me and settled into a different closet here.

Recently I read about an EPP project that intrigued me, and on a whim I ordered the papers.  Today I finally took the time to delve into it -- unearthed my EPP supply kit, considered fabric and color options, etc -- and I'm ready to undertake Phase II of my  EPP Experience.  This may take a while!

I'm ***almost*** done with Enzo's Steam Punk big bed quilt -- just the binding left to finish, so hopefully a photo tomorrow or the next day.  Whew, that has been some intense quiltmaking taking place here over the past couple of weeks!

And of course that means I'm gearing up for a new project!  Here's what's simmering in my mind and on my worktable:

Brimfield Awakening

So far for the new year, I've only settled on two new projects -- this one, and Barbara Brackman's Antebellum Album BOM.  This one is slow and careful English paper pieced handwork.  I have the papers and some of the fabrics I'm planning to use, and hopefully will get it launched next week or so.
