UFOs

Nothing special -- these are just the last two donation quilts that I'm moving along before the end of the year.  They've both been in piles on my work table for a couple of months now, and I wanted to get them moved ahead.

UFO completed

This was a UFO top made from accumulated Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks, and it's been resting for a while.  Now it's quilted, bound, and ready for Rhiannon's visit!

A November completion

Another finished project to share!

This one is based on Barbara Brackman's 2021 BOM HANDS ALL AROUND.  I finished the block series and the entire quilt ahead of schedule this year, because I wanted to use it here at home during November.

The blocks are large -- 16" -- and the fabrics are either Jo Morton or Barbara Brackman prints.  I'm calling this quilt "Abundance."

Completions

It was relaxing for me to take a time out from blogging during the month of October.  Meanwhile, all is humming nicely along here.  Baby Leo is getting bigger already, and Lorenzo and Lucci adore their little brother.  Rhiannon (and Nick and Stacey) will be coming for a visit during November -- the house will be full!

I did finish a couple of quilts during October, although I spent much more time babysitting than sewing.  Which is perfectly wonderful: it's good to be a grandma!

Mickey!

I rarely use panels for quiltmaking, but Dave and Jess are big Disney fans, and Disneyland has been a feature of many of the special moments of their life -- he even proposed to her in front of

 Sleeping Beauty Castle!

I just finished this third (and final) Mickey quilt for them -- for the new grandson who will be arriving two weeks from today!

I'm getting a lot done these days.  The new studio works well.  We're looking into AC, which would make it more comfortable, but otherwise it's lovely to sew there and look out at the gardens.

Another UFO moving forward

I recently unearthed a partial set of sampler blocks.  The last time I reported working on these was almost two years ago, long before we moved. 

This week I felt inspired to piece the remaining three blocks, and to assemble the top with borders.

When it's quilted and finished, it will be added to the 'adult donation' pile.

Desert Sunset

Sunshine Guild had a sew-along over the weekend.  We all did the HORIZON quilt from Klein Meisje.

My starting point was the length of desert sunset fabric hanging on the left -- it will be my back.  I pulled appropriate-size chunks from my scrap box, choosing colors that complemented the sunset yardage.  The blocks were a flash to cut and sew.  Block placement was 'random pull'. with my only rule being 'two the same color can't touch.'

I really liked this scrapbuster a LOT, very easy.

Another set of lotto blocks assembled.  This teal quilt is a little larger, and the fabric style is a little more grown-up than the past several lotto quilts I've done, so this one will be donated with an adult destination in mind.

A donation quilt from June lotto blocks.  

With lotto blocks the challenge is always to create something harmonious using a rather disparate assortment of parts.  This group was put together because they are 'pale aqua.'
