A completion, my final one for 2022!

I'm pleased with this simple little quilt, undertaken just because I happened on some red 5" squares when I was tidying up my studio a while ago.  I'd have to say that this style of quilt -- a repeating pieced block done in scrappy fabrics -- is my favorite kind of quilt to make.  During the past couple years, I've drifted from 1800s repro style fabrics into more contemporary bright choices, but I'm still a traditional quilt maker.  I do have some quilt making ideas for next year that I'm looking forward to.  Not sure how many more quilts I still have ahead of me ...

American Stars

Barbara Brackman's 2022 pieced BOM

#12 - Kaleidoscope Star

I made an additional block of my own design to fill my layout.

Complex piecing all year was an excellent challenge!  Barbara's BOMs are always interesting, informative, and enjoyable.  Her historical research is amazing, and I love her sly sense of humor!

My quilt has already been finished and donated.  A successful project but I was not into red, white and blue this year -- I should have chosen a different color scheme.  Oh well, onward to the next BOM, beginning mid-January ...

Mulled Wine

I finished up my Mulled Wine sampler quilt!  I'm very pleased with the way it turned out and look forward to using it during November.  I wasn't able to get a photo that I like because the sun and shadows are in 'autumn' mode -- I'll try again indoors one of these days for better light and better color.  Onward to my next project ...  I have a couple of Christmas ideas simmering.

For Leo, our little lion

A completion! I made up a quick little crib quilt for Leo from a panel and some lion border fabric.

Made to order (Surprise: quilty subject matter!)

Jess is planning a circus party for Leo's birthday celebration.  She made a specific request for themed table runners for her patio tables.  Two done: these are 24" x 60", simple and bright.  It helps to have a HUGE fabric stash to work from!  Mission accomplished!

Magic Potion

Magic Potion is completed.  These are all mushroom novelty fabrics that I'd been collecting for a while.  I'll be using it during October with some witchy seasonal decorations.  Lorenzo and Lucci LOVE special decorations and foods, and I enjoy obliging them!

I've decided not to start the North Pole project I was considering.  An applique project of that scope should have more concentration and commitment than I'm interested in offering at this time.  So back to the drawing board for a different new project.  I'm feeling a bit discouraged this year -- this is supposed to be a quilting blog, but I'm doing so little quiltmaking these days.

A completion: Grove, another from my Fruitlands series.

This series will be autumn quilts for a non-autumn climate.  I've been feeling very non-creative, very burned out, but I'm still trudging along on this group because I want to replace the autumn home decor I used in the past.  No oak trees here!

Fruitlands

This quilt represents the trees here in the yard.
I was inspired by a collection of Kathy Doughty fabrics called
Earth Made Paradise.

Here in the yard we have 2 kinds of apples, apricots, figs, 2 kinds of grapes, lemons, limes, oranges, persimmons and pomegranates.  And a plethora of tomatoes!  The fruit trees were one of the main reasons we bought this house.

And one more UFO completion!
A sew-along from a couple of years ago: I've named this one PolkaPolka because all the fabrics are polka dots.

This might well be my last quilt -- things have changed.  My mind is not on creativity, and I'm doubtful that I'll get back to it.

Monday

My perspective and goals have changed.  I've decided to add borders here and call it a day -- completing just part of the heart, which feels symbolic.

RSC22

Taaa-daaa!
I got all those stacks of rainbow 9ps assembled!
The blocks had been accumulated over several of years of Rainbow Scrap Challenge, and I'm very pleased with this result.

Enjoy more RSC inspiration at

Feathers and Stitch Club

A final photo of my completed Feathers quilt, from the Alison Glass sew-along earlier this year.  It's taking me such a long time to accomplish anything anymore.  But now it's finally quilted, bound, and ready for action :)

And I'm getting organized for the Stitch Club kantha project, which begins April 19.

I get two points for this one!

Another completion! I'm counting this in both the UFO and the RSC categories: it came from a set of Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks that had been curing for several years.  Done!
