Memories

My workroom is getting packed and ready to move: I just the other day took this sampler down from the wall.  It's a counted cross-stitch piece I did a long time ago, representing the flora and fauna of the mountain house.  Lorenzo and Lucci like to name each image, including 'Grandma'.

It's so surprising for me to find myself moving ahead to yet another chapter of life.  I'm feeling thoughtful, and very grateful that things are heading in a good direction.

Tuesday

The urge is still with me:  it's been several weeks since I was hit with the 'in the mood for cross stitch' bug.  I decided to test the waters by choosing a chart and pulling floss.  I don't have the right blues, and I need pure white.  I'm going to let this all rest on the dining room table for a few days, and see if it continues to draw my attention.  Or otherwise, we'll see if my interest level  fades ... if possible before I locate fabric and start counting :)

Monday

Nothing to do with anything, but all of a sudden I'm in the mood for counted cross stitch ??!!  It's been literally YEARS since I've done a stitchery project.  (I should note that I still have three drawers in the armoire full of charts, fabric and floss.)

A couple of Carriage House patterns I'm coveting today:

I think this same urge came over me last year also,
but I resisted it that time.

Sorely tempted ...

I haven't done any cross-stitch for several years, but I certainly am coveting this new release,
Halloween at Hawk Run Hollow

Happy Spring!

Saturday

Aaaaah, I'm beginning to get spring fever! The weather is bright and windy, and the snow mounds are shrinking fast. I can even see little nubs of daffodils beginning to poke up in the mud under the aspen trees. I'm in the mood for gardening (not yet, but soon) and Farmer's Market (opening in three weeks!) and garage sales. I've got my fingers crossed that we don't get any more snow -- topping out the season at 115" will do nicely, thank you.

I rummaged through the drawer in the armoire and came up with this well-aged cross stitch project. It hasn't seen the light of day since 2008, but maybe its time has come. I'm enjoying sitting at the table in the sunroom and stitching a bit and watching the world go by. And I'm thinking that Mitre-Saw Man could probably make a picture frame in whatever size I'll need.

GRATITUDES

1. A mug of tasty corn chowder for lunch
2. Tony singing along with Cat Stevens as he primes and paints his new doorframes
3. The dogs standing in the sun with their heads up and their eyes closed, just sniffing the air
