Trinket finale

I did some preliminary kantha stitching on this and finished the binding.  Will add more kantha from time to time, but it's ready to be put to use now as a summer quilt -- no batting so it's thin and lightweight and drapey.

Trinket

Taadaa!
My Trinket top is done!

It turned out just as I'd envisioned.  I DO NOT enjoy foundation paper piecing, but I got the job done. I have a good plan for quilting, just need to get some backing fabric rustled up.  Whew -- so much productivity lately, I'm really on a roll here!

Trinket

I started removing the foundation papers and assembled the first few rows, and suddenly my vision of an aqua grid leaps into focus!  This is going to be just what I had in mind!

Trinket

Hooray!!!  I finished paper-piecing all of the Trinket blocks -- 84 of 'em, on foundation papers!  Soooo much fiddling!

Here are the final two groups, Life 1 - 5 and Life 6 - 10.

Whew, this seemed like a long slog, probably because paper-piecing is not my favorite technique.  Anyway, next step is to start REMOVING papers and assembling rows.  Looks like a hot mess here, but there is a plan :)

I'll be using turquoise sashing between the blocks so they will be separated, not touching.  Target for completion is August.

Trinket

Here is my latest batch of TRINKET blocks,
two each of Shapes 1 - 5 plus a couple of cute little bonus blocks:

The grid on my design wall is filling up!

When the time comes, these will all be separated with aqua sashing, not touching like this.  But after the rest of the blocks are completed, I'll need to tear all the foundation papers off the backs before I can start assembling, so quite a way to go yet.

Trinket Sew Along

I finished the next five blocks for the Alison Glass TRINKET Sew Along.  I'm making two of each design to create a larger quilt.  These crisp cute little blocks are foundation paper pieced -- not a technique I use very much, but it's effective for this project.

Trinket Sew Along

It's Week One of the Alison Glass TRINKET Sew Along.

I'm off to a running start with this week's assignment: Lines 1 - 5.  I'll be making two of each block to create a larger quilt.  The blocks are foundation paper pieced, making for crisp accurate results.

Trinket Sew Along

The Alison Glass TRINKET Sew-along will be kicking off next week, and I'm organized and ready to begin.

The TRINKET pattern includes 40 different foundation-pieced blocks, and a variety of layout suggestions.

I've chosen a mid-century modern palette for my version, inspired by vintage Disneyland posters.  The solid aqua fabric at the bottom will be used as sashing between my blocks.

Trinket Sew-along

Alison Glass has just announced her 2023 spring sew-along

I always enjoy her sew-alongs, and this one will be fun.  The feature pattern includes 40 paper-pieced blocks and a variety of layout suggestions.  I have an idea for my color palette -- need to do some stash diving.

TRINKET officially kicks off later in March.
