A completion -- quilted and bound!

I chose this eclectic and scrappy fabric assortment to convey an autumny feeling here in this non-four-season place that doesn't actually have autumn.  This quilt will become part of my Fruitlands series. 

The majority of these fabrics are from Australian designers.  Both the color palettes and the subject matter of these fabrics are a little different from my usual choices. The number of quilt projects I have left in me is dwindling, and accordingly I'm starting to close out some of the categories in my fabric stash.

We're looking forward to a big crop of figs this year, and to apples and grapes, but very few persimmons -- that tree must be on an alternate-bearing cycle.  The oranges, coming later, also look promising.

Persimmon

I'm slooooowly working on some blocks for another quilt in my Fruitlands series.  I'm planning to call this one Persimmon, because of the interesting odd focus fabric.  We had hundreds of persimmons last year, and it looks like a good crop is on the way again this year.  Still a ways to go with this quilt, but it relaxes me to putter in the studio.

A completion: Grove, another from my Fruitlands series.

  

This series will be autumn quilts for a non-autumn climate.  I've been feeling very non-creative, very burned out, but I'm still trudging along on this group because I want to replace the autumn home decor I used in the past.  No oak trees here!

Fruitlands

This quilt represents the trees here in the yard.

I was inspired by a collection of Kathy Doughty fabrics called 

Earth Made Paradise. 

Here in the yard we have 2 kinds of apples, apricots, figs, 2 kinds of grapes, lemons, limes, oranges, persimmons and pomegranates.  And a plethora of tomatoes!  The fruit trees were one of the main reasons we bought this house.
