Friday mail call

WONDERFUL mail this afternoon!  First off, the other two books I'd ordered arrived, and they both look to be fascinating.  I'm having an arthritis-y day, and I look forward to settling into my chair for the evening and enjoying a good read :)

And secondly, take a gander at this carton of fabric!  It was a giveaway from Alma Allen of Blackbird Designs, can you believe it?!  Scroll down to the bottom of this post to see her offer, and all the comments from interested readers.

Now I was already totally thrilled the other day when she notified me that I'd won on behalf of the Comfort Quilts program for my guild!  And then when this carton came today ... well, I was flabbergasted!  I was expecting little cut scrap squares, and this box has easily 20 - 30 yards of Moda fabric!!  Oh my, we're going to be able to make some gorgeous comfort quilts this year!!!  You all who read my blog regularly know how involved I am with Comfort Quilts, and this gift was just an absolute delight!!  Thank you Alma!!!

And to finish off a really nice afternoon, we enjoyed a tasty winter dinner tonight.  I served roast pork tenderloin, warm apple compote, and sweet potato-beet hash made using this recipe from Rose Prairie Quilts.  I added green beans to the mixture, and just served it right out of the oven rather than panfrying it.  The roasted vegetables were tasty, and the colors in the hash were beautiful.  Two thumbs up!!

I'm thrilled to see all this fabric went to someone who will put it to such good work.
