Thursday

Our first snow of the season!  We had a cold blustery storm pass through yesterday, and woke to this very-early-in-the-season surprise this morning. It will melt off as soon as the sun comes up.  Whew -- wasn't it just summer a few minutes ago?

I've settled into a slower pace of life for now.  The daily round of assisting Dad doesn't leave me with much time for leisure activities -- I'm finding it hard to concentrate on anything creative.  We talk about him getting well enough to go back to his own home, but truth be told I kind of doubt it.  His heart is bad and he doesn't seem to have the strength to get past the broken hip and begin caring for himself again.  Sigh.

Because the house is disarranged due to his presence, I'm not inspired to work on quilts to use for decorating here at home. I feel like I should be working on a Christmas quilt or two, but can't seem to settle on anything.  I am keeping a Comfort Quilt project spread out on my worktable, and when I have a chance I chip away at it ... but that's basically just a time-filler, not a real project.  I guess I'm in a slump :(

im sorry to hear that your dad isnt doing well. a broken hip is difficult to recover from at that age, so im sending lots of love and healing juju to all of you! Caring for someone can be draining both physically and emotionally...but dont forget to make time for yourself. Its hard to do when you have someone that requires most of your time, but you need to make that time for yourself. Its what keeps us sane! :) (especially when snow is already falling) By the way, if it makes you feel any better, they are predicting snow for us this weekend too :( Hugs~

Welcome to slumpville.

I am hoping that I can get far enough over mine to work on a couple swap blocks on my day off tomorrow - or at the very least on my day off on Monday...

It sounds like a a slump but who could blame you! I'll keep you in prayer-healing for your dad, strength to deal for you and yours and wisdom to know when it's time to ask for help.
Take care.
PS. When I first saw the picture in your post I didn't realize it was snow and thought you guys had a major porch re-painting!

I'm also sending well wishes over to you Jeanne. I do hope your Dad is on the up and up very soon.

I used to do hand embroidery when sitting with my Dad. He said it reminded him of his own Mother doing her sewing, so I would just work away chatting with him and sewing. It is a lovely memory. Maybe you could work up a small xmas embroidery or something similar.

Wow!! snow! it all sounds so wonderful to me (NO snow here in Queensland) but I'm sure there is some awful cold temperatures to go with it!

Cheers!

Thinking of you and yours Jeanne and sending you ((((hugs))) from across the pond - a small festive stitchery sounds just the ticket for these trying times
