We're still tiptoeing our way through the "keeping the oldsters happy but separate" obstacle course, so I had my Dad for Christmas Eve dinner, and then my Mom for Christmas Day. (I don't think I mentioned that Thanksgiving involved both a brunch and also an out-to-dinner-at-a-restaurant?) Anyway, the holiday celebration, while different than it's been in the past, seemed to be an acceptable new arrangement.
We especially enjoyed heart-warming phone conversations with Nick and Dave, and later in the evening relaxed while watching "It's a Wonderful Life", my favorite holiday movie.

Our "kids", Jess and Elvis, enjoyed their Christmas presents! My good old girl Jess has always loved opening wrapped packages. Elvie is a little dimmer, and doesn't quite know what to expect, even if it's only been five minutes since he opened the previous gift -- but it's all good once the paper has been shredded.

I'm taking a Quiet Day today: leftovers to nibble on and time in my sewing room. I pieced up this week's Friday Block Party assignment: Double Cross. I also did a little bit of post-holiday online shopping -- thread is on sale at Connecting Threads. And I finally layered up a quickie little snowy-day lap robe for my Mom, which should have been about a one-day project altogether. Ha, no --the top has been waiting for attention for weeks, but I'm determined to get it done by New Year's. I'm making a big effort to get myself (and everyone else) used to my new Creative Time schedule :)
