I'm a quiet member of an online group called 'Our Daily Thread.' The main focus of the group is work on a daily embroidery journal: stitching a small patch or motif or whatever each day to create a year-long personal expression. Some of the works in progress are absolutely gorgeous. I'm inspired as I read along each afternoon to see other members' progress, but I didn't feel up to a daily embroidery commitment for myself.
For the first time last month though, in order to encourage new or sitting-on-the-sideline members, the group leader offered a small monthly challenge which included several color, stitch, and embellishment prompts. That sounded like a better fit for me, and the result was my little honeycomb hoop.
Based on my first success, I was excited to get the challenge prompts for March and create another little piece. The challenge this month was to include diamond shape, feather stitch, a variation of blanket stitch, cheese cloth, and charms, and to use yellow and dark green in the color palette. I'm very happy with my Feather Collection stitchery -- maybe sort of a Sherwood Forest or Hobbit vibe?
I'm still working along slowly on some quilt ideas, but I'm finding embroidery to be an excellent creative outlet for the amount of time and energy I have available now.

Loving those feather!! Really nice work on this:))) I am not able to commit to any "every day" project; as a musician-- all my life I HAD to practice EVERY DAY all my working life--so I am now doing what I want when I want without that tedium... hugs, Julierose
