GINGERBREAD SQUARES
For bars:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup molasses
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon powdered ginger
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
Prepare a 9 x 13 pan with nonstick spray.
Preheat oven to 325*.
Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
Add egg, vanilla, and molasses.
Stir in remaining ingredients and combine all thoroughly.
Press dough into prepared pan.
Bake at 325* 20 - 22 minutes.
Cool completely.
For frosting:
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup powder sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Combine all frosting ingredients and beat until smooth.
Spread cooled bars with frosting before cutting into squares.
About 20 bars
