Oatmeal Pie



OATMEAL PIE

9-inch unbaked pie shell
3/4 cup brown sugar
6 tablespoons butter, softened
2 eggs
2/3 cup corn syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup oats


Preheat oven to 325*.
Place pie shell in pan on baking sheet.
In a mixing bowl, cream together sugar and butter.
Add eggs, corn syrup and vanilla, and combine all.
Stir in flour, salt and oats.
Pour mixture into unbaked pie shell.
Bake at 325* 45 - 50  minutes, until crust is brown and center is set.
Cool on rack before slicing.
Serve with vanilla ice cream if desired.

I can't get my brain (or tastebuds) wrapped around this one. Do the oats kind of float to the top? Does it taste like chess pie with a crumble on top?
