RSC17: June - yellow

We're starting a new RSC color this week -- yellow is a nice summery color.

I did a quick scrabble through my yellow scrap bag, and found that most of the pieces are actually gold because I work with repros most of the time.

These yellow toadstools show up well against the
rust backgrounds.

But these yellow tris don't look great against the pale green, so I just did a very few. Yuck.  These are an addition to an existing block set which uses the celery solid as background, so I'll just limit this month's blocks and wait till we move on to a better contrast.

And what seemed to be yellow homespuns are really in fact gold, so I couldn't do much here either.
So for now just a scant few yellowish pieces sewn up ... we'll see what happens next week.

Enjoy more sunshiney yellow at

I like what you've done with your yellows (golds), a nice start to the month of yellow.

Those mushrooms look great against the rust, a good combination, nice contrast. Maybe a darker, green, would suit the others better.. Keep up the good work!

My yellows aren't very bright and glowing. I tend to the butterscotch type of yellows but hey yellow is yellow whether gold or lemon or butterscotch.

I really do like your yellows too! The plaids are especially yummy!

The golds do look great on the rust background. Even if the individual geese with mint aren't your favorite, they will probably be fine as part of a collection. In any case, blocks are better than scraps!

YELLOW is a tough color. Pale to sunshine, lemon to mustard. I say use them ALL!!! :o))

Seems I have mostly sunny yellows.
I still haven't started my mushrooms.
I think, like Angela said, the celery background/yellow geese will work fine with all the rest even though they look a little dull by themselves.
I like those homespuns!

All of your blocks look nice. The great part about this RSC is that when the quilt is all assembled and quilted, no one will know if it was supposed to be gold or yellow and they will love the quilt! I like all of your blocks. My blocks were all that bright either and they were homespun plaid with a little green. Sometimes, that is how it is.
