Back at it with RSC13 - ORANGE. This week's ongoing RSC blocks were the string stars.
Nice decent blocks, but again just barely ORANGE. Seems like there are only gold and cheddar scraps in that bag :(
And here are all the string stars so far. I've been doing two a month, but now I think I probably want to end up with 35 rather than 24, so I'm deciding about whether to go back and do a few in the colors already done, or add from this point forward.
And here's the Mother Lode of ORANGE scraps, just as I thought: in a Halloween UFO. So next week I should have something really truly ORANGE to share :)

Seeing this, I ask myself the question: how do I start my scrap stash? I find myself saving long strips of fabric because I make fabric-covered-cord bowls but never put much thought to how to save/organize other scraps. For a few projects, I've saved project-related scraps in individual Ziploc bags. So much of my stash is FQs or half-yard pieces, and they're neatly (read: obsessively) folded and stowed in translucent drawers. And there are big hunks of flat folds from my previous (pre-quilt/FQs life) that live in a couple of file boxes. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Love love love those string stars, Jeanne---they are gorgeous! and I'm going to want that Halloween log cabin, you know. ;D
Your string blocks give me a good idea what to do with the 40 or so I just finished piecing! love when another quilter gives me a good idea!
Your string stars are coming along beautifully! Wow - those oranges are bright in the halloween quilt.
Nice set of stars you are making Jeanne.
