Civil War Quilt week 3

It's Saturday, and Barbara Brackman's newest Civil War Quilts block, Seven Sisters, is up.  Hmmm.  While it certainly is an appropriately authentic block, and her historical background is fascinating as usual, I decided to do some Executive Decision Making.

Brackman's pattern is for an appliqued star block, but I'm planning to keep my version of this quilt pieced.  So I went hunting for pieced Seven Sisters templates.  Found 'em, but seven stars in an 8" block equals MINISCULE pieces, not in keeping with the scale of my other blocks.  So I ended up with ONE sister, rather than seven :)  Marching to the beat of my own drummer here ...

Thanks again for the link to this blog, I love the history part of it. What a brave girl to flaunt her flag like that among the Union soldiers.

I like your Executive Decision too. You are just focusing on one of the seven sisters.
