I'm facing some challenges in real life these days, in addition to the political debacle we are all witnessing. It's increasingly difficult for me to act as though things are normal, to pretend the world isn't happening. But strangely, when I read the above article about tariffs and domestic manufacturing today, things kind of settled in my brain. The article gave me a different context and 'language' for processing depressing information.
One of my basic identities is as a textile person -- quilter, embroiderer, yarn worker, etc. -- so I guess this perspective on the economy and current events through the eyes of quilt block names really resonated with me! I wonder if I'll be motivated enough to piece up a tariff sampler quilt? Thank you, Barbara, for your wonderful research and your way with words.
