One of the new sew-alongs I hope to work on in the coming year is
by Gaye Bomers at Sentimental Stitches. Gaye is a prolific pattern writer, and I've enjoyed several of her series in the past. The layout for this one caught my eye, and I decided to sign up.
It's a block of the week sew-along and will continue throughout the whole year. It offers a tiny paper-pieced block each Friday, as well as bonus small blocks, larger setting blocks, and border/assembly instructions.
In keeping with my stash-reduction goals for the year, I'll probably use an assortment of my French General fabrics selected from that particular stash tub. In the top row, the various saffron yellows will be my backgrounds and setting triangles, and the red print and solid soft green will be my borders. In the lower row the smaller assorted pieces will be used for blocks. My fabric pull will certainly make a lovely traditional quilt, but I'm not quite 100% ready to dive into cutting. Sigh.
The commitment at this point is only one 3" block per week, so I should be able to rouse myself and make some progress with this project before I fizzle out. (Wry smile and wink because my attention span is probably not a year long anymore, even when I do actually get started.)
