1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup wine
(either white or red are fine-- red will result in a darker cookie )
1/2 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon anise seeds, crushed
Dash salt
2 cups flour
Additional sugar for coating
Preheat oven to 350*
Prepare baking sheets with nonstick spray.
Combine all ingredients to form a soft dough.
If dough is too sticky to work with, add another tablespoon or two of flour as necessary.
Break off chunks of dough, roll into fat ropes about 5" long, and press ends together to form small rings.
Place rings 1" apart on prepared cookie sheets.
Sprinkle rings with additional sugar.
Bake at 350* 20 - 22 minutes, until golden.
Cool on racks.

Yum! These look so good. I've never heard of putting wine into cookies before.
