Ladies' Aid Sampler

Anybody in the mood for some classic applique?  Barbara Brackman's latest BOM starts today.

This series is a discussion of antique appliqued sampler quilts originating from the New York region during the Civil War.  Each month  Barbara will discuss a particular community's war efforts -- including relief organizations, ladies' aid societies, the Sanitary Commission -- and the many thousands of quilts and blankets that were made, gathered and sent off to the soldiers fighting for the country.   A simple applique block, common to the region, will be presented each month.

I need to get my mind organized about this series.  I knew it was forthcoming, but have been distracted by our moving hubbub.  Hand applique sounds soothing right about now.
