Recently, Barbara Brackman published an article on her MATERIAL CULTURE blog entitled LANCASTER COUNTY'S UNUSUAL SAMPLERS. It caught my eye because I've always been partial to bright calico fabrics. Ahem: seems that I have quite a collection of them in my stash :) Here are just some of the reds, yellows, greens and pinks. There are more where these came from, and also cheddars, blues, purples ...
Anyway, since I don't currently have any "need to get done by a certain deadline" projects in my workroom, I've decided to putter with some pieced calico blocks and see where I end up. Just doing my own thing, inspired by some of the antique quilts that share this style and color combo.

I love calicos as well...your quilt is so pretty!!!
I have a small collection -- mostly red and yellow, heavy on the Quaker Reds that came out about 4 years ago. I'm missing pinks and blues altogether, may have some greens. Now I know why I've never tackled one of these quilts because the pinks and blues are what make them special. Time to shop.
Cute quilt! I don't collect any particular type of fabric, just whatever I happen to like at the moment.
Love that look.
