Yankee Diary

Block 10: Leaves of Autumn
"The shape resembles a poplar leaf, which to a classical scholar might represent the "Groves of Academe," perhaps a reference to Miss Daggett's position teaching Ancient History at Vassar.  Another 19th-century meaning from the "Language of Flowers" characterized the poplar---leafless in winter---as meaning sadness or melancholy, a possible reference to Susie's advanced
age of 30."

This is our row of poplar trees running up the road
beyond the garage,
bright yellow this week.

I'm CAUGHT UP with this BOM!!!

Every time you post your Diary blocks, I admire that red background. (And I'm finally getting around to telling you that 'Hey! I love that red background!)
