A casualty

Tony had the boy dogs out for their afternoon stroll yesterday when they were ambushed by an off-leash pit bull  :(   Our dogs are always leashed, but the attacking dog was apparently loose on his driveway with his owner.  I'm sure in that dog's brain, he was just protecting his territory like he was supposed to.

Elvis took the brunt of the attack, before the other owner managed to pull his dog off.  A trip to the vet, a fractured leg and bite wounds: $600 and two hours later, and Elvie will be sleeping it off for a few days.  The other owner paid for the vet bill.

Poor guy -- he's such a low-key, good-natured dog.  I'm sad to see him under the weather, but glad that it was only this bad -- could have been much worse.

Oh no poor little thing! Yes, it could have been so much worse, glad he is on the mend, and glad the owner of the other dog paid the bill, as he should.

oh I feel so bad for Elvis! Give him a little scratch behind the ears for me.

As a dog owner there is nothing that makes me angrier than other dog owners who don't keep their pets under control. And cripes, Pit bulls get such a bad rap as it is- so much more reason to always be vigilant.
Sorry to rant.

Oh dear, how awful for Elvis. May he heal quickly and lose the memory. Thank goodness he has a loving home and a ready quilt for comfort.

poor little guy...im soooo glad it wasnt anything more serious, im guessing that dog owner will be keeping his dog on a leash or in the backyard from now on. dogs will be dogs, and theres no telling how they will behave...especially when you are in the mountains with all the wildlife, etc. We had to have a "no dog" rule for up here, because once folks get in the mountains they think its okay to let their dog run wild out in the open, but for those of us up here with children and cats, etc....it becomes a menace. Im not anti dog...just anti "bad" dog owners! This neighbor seems nice enough to have paid the bill, but what if something more serious would have happened...he would have felt terrible.
