March UFO

A completion!  This quilt was started **several** years ago, and it's come out and gone back into its bag at least twice since then.

As background, my long-time blog friends may remember that one of my lifetime quilt goals is to make a "dowry" set of twelve quilts for my bed.  Well, I've been quilting for nearly two decades, and have completed more than 360 quilts in that time.  Included in the total, I've made 29 queen size quilts ... and I still don't have my own set of twelve!  This quilt brings me one step closer to the finish line :)

This one will be my March quilt.  The color palette was inspired by the thawing forest.  Lots of brown twigs and puddles out there this time of year, but a few sprouts are beginning to peek out  ...

when you say that you started this *several* years ago - you give me hope that one year I'll finish all the many things I've started since i began quilting 5 years ago :)

Love your simple but lovely March quilt! Those star points drwaing the eyes in diagonal directions is the best part!

Love from Texas! ~bonnie

the quilt is gorgeous...glad to hear you are keeping it for yourself...but i have to say...360 quilts....wow! thats quite an accomplishment...i can only imagine how lucky your friends and family must be, as im sure they received a lot of those gems!
Again, nice to hear you are keeping some for yourself! :) (so how many have you in your dowry to date?)

Nice finish! The colours are so perfect; not quite spring, but it's coming!

what a great idea! I would love to have 12 quilts, one for every month, for my bed. Quilters tend to think of others rather than ourselves. I do have two. One for fall/winter and one for spring/summer. Need to get going on the other 10.

Your March quilt is a winner. Very springy!

These definitely are the colors I've seen peeking out from under the melting snow lately. It's beautiful and congratulations on a quilt for you. I know well the story of being a quilter with few quilts I keep. :) Good for you!

I don't have 12 for my bed either. One of my goals this year was to keep a few quilts. So far I'm keeping my Roll Roll Cotton Ball. WOW...you've made lots of quilts.

Congratulations! What a great finish, and it looks beautiful. I love your 12 quilts goal. It's true though, as quilters we always make them for others and seldom for ourselves. I would love to see a post of the quilts you have finished for yourself. It would be nice to see. Sadly I'm only 2 for 3 (March let me down). Looking forward to seeing what you finish in April!
Cheers,
Dionne

It looks wonderful. I love the way the corners of the blocks form secondary four patches.

It's really a beautiful quilt! I've never heard colors used described as "thawing forest" - clever and so observant!

Thats too funny, that with all the quilts you have made you still don't have your own 12.

I love this one!!
