Would you believe?

... quilty content at last! I don't think I've blogged about doing anything quilt-related for weeks.

So here's what's been going on behind the scenes:

The bag of little weird-shaped scraps came out of the Christmas stash tub, and I cut pieces for 63 blocks. (But oddly enough, the scrap bag seems to be just as full as when I started.) (Good heavens, where do all these scraps come from??!!)

I'm chain-piecing stars, half with light backgrounds and half with dark. The cutting took longer than sewing up the blocks, because I was working from little odds and ends, so I couldn't do fast strip cutting.

Anyway, the light stars are all done, and the dark ones are ready to get zoomed up this weekend. I'm planning to do a 7 x 9 checkerboard layout, and once all the blocks are pieced, this will finish up quickly. I even found some red plaid border strips in that bag, which I must have carefully frogged off of who-knows-what a long time ago. Christmas quilt coming soon!!

Also, a new book arrived in the mail, and a new project has begun to simmer ...

I love the scrappy look! But it IS fussy work, cutting from odds and ends. That's why a quick-method project is nice to have sandwiched between these others that take so much cutting time. Looking good!
