This week I donated all my on-hand comfort quilts to a local fire relief effort, so today I'm newly motivated to replenish my comfort quilt supply. Accordingly, here's my first PINK blockwork of the year for RSC 25:
Uneven 9-patch blocks using a set of Alison Glass batik fat quarters. They are 6" x 9", and I'll see how many I accumulate -- no specific plan.
And randomly scrappy classic log cabins. These are 12" blocks, so I'll aim for 24 total to get a nice lap-size donation quilt.
I'd say that log cabins are my favorite block -- I've produced *many* log cabin quilts through the years, and I'm always up for starting another one.

Up in LA, miles and miles of devastation and rubble, the scope is difficult to comprehend. We're about 25 miles south of the fires.

I didn't realize you live in LA - it must be so heartbreaking for you to see the devastation. Hopefully you're in a safe zone.
ReplyDeleteI like log cabin blocks too and have sometimes thought that if I ever were to do a quilt that would be the block I would choose.
So sorry for the devastation caused by the fires. That's a good start on blocks to replenish your comfort quilt stash.
ReplyDeleteA worthy cause to donate your quilts to indeed! They will be a real comfort to those going through this very trying time. I love the log cabin block too particularly for their design versatility.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you found a place to donate to the relief effort. The fires are so devastating. I am sure we won't know the full extent for a while.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you lived so close to LA. I would imagine that you can smell the smoke if not see it too. How wonderful that you had quilts to donate. They will bring comfort to those that lost so much. Good start on filling up *bonus* quilts again. You just never know when they might be called upon again.
