Now that Rhiannon's purple quilt is on its way to Boston,
I can get back to my color play exploration.
Earlier in November, I'd pulled an assortment of bright raspberry fabrics. They have now happily turned into 60 blocks, and are ready to be assembled.
The idea floating around in the back of my mind is that I'll challenge myself to a series: a Color-of-the-Month quilt, in progression around the color wheel. By including the tertiary colors, I'll have assignments for all twelve months. This first project will be my red-violet effort -- my starting point around the wheel simply because the color caught my eye in the stash tubs a few weeks ago.

Nice! I have toyed with the idea of doing a color-of-month quilt for several years now but never follow through. I like your plan, and if I ever get around to it, that seems like a nice way to do it. The ones I've looked at before had a moderator choose a color and I rarely had the right color handy or time to search for it. With your idea, I could add bits of the 12 colors into a bag as they passed through my hands, making it easier to get to the sewing part when the right month comes along. I like it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of pink unless it's the deeply saturated form of it and your blocks fit that criteria. Looking forward to seeing what you do next - and to following your colour exploration all year.
