Today I am reflecting on my own personal HOLIDAYS, and the RITUALS I observe throughout the year. In the past, I had followed a detailed (and rewarding) personal calendar of activities that celebrated the changing seasons and the turn of the year. I changed my home decor and prepared special seasonal foods in observance of holidays and ordinary days. It was a way for me to locate my existence in the wheel of time in this vast universe.
I did not anticipate that my observance of these rituals would ever shift, but here I am. Some of the events on my personal calendar have seemed to be not relevant to me this year. The circumstances of my life have changed, the world has changed, I've changed A LOT spiritually, and it is time for me to move ahead. I'm looking forward to revising or eliminating some of the activities and decor and special menus, and developing some new ones. I enjoy both the special days and the ordinary days, so there will be plenty of opportunity for me to express myself. I guess this means I'm concluding this particular Twelve Days activity earlier than I'd expected. I'm seeing my life through such different eyes now.
After all, what I'm really celebrating, every single day, is that I'm still here, and that the universe is still up there, circling above me!
I like the idea of celebrating, every single day, the fact that we're still here. That's something we all should be even more mindful of, particularly after the year we've been through. Happy 2021 to you and yours.
