Pieces From The Past

And another sew-along beginning today:

This one will feature depression-era blocks taken from Kansas City Star patterns.  Melva will also be presenting information about family history and genealogy, and discussing letters from prisoners at a WWII POW camp.  The series will include 20 blocks in a variety of sizes and techniques.

#1 - Signature Block

I have an over-abundance of 30s repro fabrics, so I'm going to participate in this sew-along in an attempt to use some of it up.

This sounds like a fun project, and I like the connection between quilting and family history. The old quilts were always made with scraps that referenced the family history, not like the ones of today that are pretty much always made from all new materials.
