Sourdough Walnut Brownies


SOURDOUGH WALNUT BROWNIES

2 cups chocolate chips, divided
1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup brown sugar
5 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sourdough starter
1 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350*.
Prepare a 9" x 13" baking pan with nonstick spray.
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup chocolate chips and butter.
Melt, stirring together, over very low heat.
Whisk in sugars and allow mixture to cool to room temperature.
Transfer to large mixing bowl.
Add eggs and vanilla to cooled chocolate mixture and combine well.
Fold dry ingredients into chocolate mixture.
Gently stir in sourdough starter until everything is smoothly combined.
Stir in remaining 1 cup chocolate chips and walnuts.
Spread into prepared pan.
Bake at 350* 40 - 42 minutes, until pick inserted in center tests done.
Cool in pan on rack before cutting into squares.

About 20 brownies

Sounds so delicious, but I have no sourdough starter...I will have to look it up and start some!

These look delicious! I don't have any sourdough starter at the moment but my daughter has been making sourdough bread. I have to give her your recipe. Thanks for sharing it, Jeanne.
And, I love the quilt in your header. It's an unusual (to my eye) combination of colors that look fabulous together!
