Sourdough Fruit Bread


SOURDOUGH FRUIT BREAD

½ cup butter, softened
¾ cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 egg
¾ cup sourdough starter
2 ½ cups flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup diced dried fruit – figs, orange peel, raisins, etc.
¾ cup chopped walnuts
Sugar for topping

Preheat oven to 375*
Prepare a loaf pan with nonstick spray.
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
Add milk, egg and sourdough starter, and combine all thoroughly.
Add dry ingredients and stir until evenly moistened.
Stir in fruit and walnuts.
Spread batter into prepared pan and sprinkle top with sugar.
Bake 55 – 60 minutes until loaf tests done in center.
Cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes before removing loaf from pan.
Cool completely before slicing.
