A new block of the week project

I just ran across yet another block of the week sew-along that began recently: the  Marcus Fabrics Friends and Companions Sew-Along.  Pieced, traditional, and I like the designers being featured, so I decided to give it a whirl.

The project is a mystery quilt involving 8" blocks and finishing at 60" x 60".  The series will run on Fridays for ten weeks.

I'm using fabrics from my stash with the specific intention of using up some of the older stuff, and have chosen two colorways to play with.  The first darker one, with the blue, is similar to the designers' original color choices.  It will definitely be a donation quilt for my guild.  The second, a lighter springier combo, may become a 'keeper'.  :)

Block 1: Union Forever

And furthermore, a Yahoo group was just created for this sew-along, so participants can share their colors and sewing progress.

So, if you have some free time and some extra fabric (haha, seriously?), join us!  It's only Week 2, so there's time to catch up.

Hi Jeanne!

I began my Friends & Companions quilt, too. I just love Pam Buda's Prairie Women's Sewing Cirlce projects, so I was easily lured into this BOW! I've been following you for a while and love your work.
