Best Brownies

It's my turn to bring "treat" to a meeting tomorrow, but I'm not quite ready to plunge into Christmas baking yet, so I decided to make an old favorite instead.  Chocolate always works, right?  These brownies are delicious as-is, but I sprinkled a handful of chocolate chips on top before baking, and dusted with powder sugar afterwards.

BEST BROWNIES

1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup cocoa

Preheat oven to 350*.
Prepare a 9 x 13 baking pan with nonstick spray.
Cream together butter and sugar until very light and fluffy.
Add eggs and vanilla and mix all well.
Add dry ingredients to mixture and combine all until smooth.
Spread into prepared pan.
Bake 30 – 32 minutes at 350*.
Cool in pan on a rack.
Cut into bars to serve.
