Super Scoopers

We had a tremendous thunderstorm here on the mountaintop yesterday afternoon, and lightning strikes started a number of fires.  Within an hour, these amazing planes were here to drop water on the burning trees.  They actually scoop water right out of the lake -- about 1400 gallons per run.  The fires are out, and we were all dazzled by the extraordinary air show!

I had no idea they scooped the water out of the lake like that! How cool! (well not cool about the fires, but cool that the planes could do that!)

that would be an amazing sight to see for sure! I love seeing ingenuity in action.
It makes me think, "if we can make a plane that can scoop up water from a lake to put out a fire why the hell can't we...
oops almost started a rant there, someone will have to drop a bucket of water on me. :)
