An excursion

We rode up to the top of Snow Summit on the "Sky Chairs" yesterday afternoon!

**********

During the summer, one of the ski lifts is open for scenic rides. A lot of people ride up and hike down, or ride up with their bicycles and bike down. It's about a ten-minute trip up, and the view up there is spectacular. The top of the ride is at 8200 feet elevation, but some of the surrounding peaks rise to over 10,000 feet.

**********

This is the little picnic area where we had lunch. If you click on the pic to enlarge, you can see some brown houses on a ridge across the canyon. We live directly below those brown houses -- that ridge rises up at the end of our road and those brown houses are right above us.

**********

This is the far west end of the lake. The lake is about seven miles long.

**********

And this is the nearby east end, with the little business/shopping area. Our house would be off to the right of this picture: the ridge above our road that I pointed out before is hidden behind the big pine tree in the foreground.

The view is beautiful, but I don't think you would ever get me in a ski lift. I won't ride ferris wheels either!

What a gorgeous area! I've never been there, but may have to put that on my to-do list before I leave this fair state.
